At the outset of his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Colorado football coach Deion Sanders took a moment to praise the leaders of CU’s other football club, the women’s soccer team.

Sanders also lauded the CU volleyball team’s 9-0 start, but he was particularly respectful of the soccer staff.

“I love their coaching staff,” Sanders said. “They lost a lot of weight and they’re lookin’ real good.”

The Buffaloes looked good through the bulk of nonconference play, emerging as one of the top-scoring clubs in the nation. With Big 12 Conference play getting underway on Thursday night at Prentup Field against Kansas State (7 p.m., ESPN+), Colorado will look to take advantage of an 11-game league slate that begins with three straight at home.
