KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office announced it plans to seek the death penalty against a man charged with killing a Kansas City, Kansas police officer .
Dennis Mitchell III is charged with capital murder in the death of Officer Hunter Simoncic on August 26.
That’s when Kansas City, Kansas, officers were initially called to the area of 75th Street and State Avenue for a report of gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found Mitchell unconscious inside a truck. Officers tried to approach him, but he drove off and initiated a chase, KCK police stated.
