KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Four entities are now working together to create a solution to deadly violence downtown.
This comes three weeks after a deadly shooting in the parking lot at 12th & Grand took the lives of two young men, injuring several others.
On Wednesday, the City of Kansas City , the Kansas City Police Department , the Downtown Council , and Copaken Brooks , which is the owner of the parking lot, announced a collaboration to enhance safety.
“It’s a solvable issue with priority and focus at this location,” said Jon Copaken, Principal at Copaken Brooks.
In response, KCPD increased foot patrols in addition to off-duty security.
Copaken said they’re adding more lights, cameras, and signs. As well as plans to install a gate around the lot.
