PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A public services agency based in Pekin has opened its Peoria location after a Peoria action agency announced it would no longer be receiving state funding to provide Peoria County with LIHEAP and other programs.

Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity lost LIHEAP and Community Block Grant funding in August . The agency’s weatherization program was cut years before that.

Tazwood Community Services , based out of Pekin, took on the services for PCCEO. Their new building is located at 7625 N University St. in Peoria.

The agency has assumed responsibility for three state-funded programs from PCCEO: LIHEAP, weatherization, and the Employment Barrier Reduction Program. Manager Crystal Breweur said they expect to serve 10,000 clients in Peoria County al
