Ponoka County Regional Fire Services responded to a residential fire in the Ponoka Prairie Mobile Home Park on Saturday, Sept. 13, fighting a blaze for over four hours that damaged three homes.
The East District Fire Department were called out to the trailer park (located at 5020 Highway 2A) at 5:30 p.m. and responded within 11 minutes, according to protective services coordinator Donna Noble.
Thanks to a resident north of the trailer park who opened the gate to their field, firefighters were able to attack the blaze from the front and the rear, said Noble, adding the fire department appreciates when neighbours enable efficient access and space for them to work.
"Electrical is suspected (as the cause of the fire) but the investigation is ongoing," she said.
