Atletico Madrid will reportedly investigate a spitting incident that emerged in the wake of Thursday's (AEST) ugly Champions League loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone was red carded after clashing with fans following Virgil van Dijk's late goal in Liverpool's 3-2 win.

Vision has since emerged of a member of Atletico's staff appearing to spit in the direction of supporters and the BBC reported that the Spanish club would investigate the incident.

Football's new home, Stan Sport, is the only place to watch the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, WSL, European World Cup qualifiers, J.League, NSWL and K League

UEFA may also take action after examining reports from both clubs and matchday officials.
