COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Wednesday marks 10 years since Vermont State Police trooper Kyle Young died of heatstroke during a training activity. He was 28 years old and was survived by two daughters.

Young was at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho while training to join the Tactical Services Unit when he collapsed.

Following his death, Vermont State Police changed their policies to better protect troopers from heat related illnesses during such strenuous training.

Vermont State Police and the Chittenden County Sheriff's Office honored him on social media Wednesday.
