A senior South Coast police officer who threw two Indigenous teenagers to the ground and punched one of them while he was lying down has been convicted of assault.

Senior Constable Brett David Linsday, 37, was found guilty at Batemans Bay Local Court on Friday, August 22, for unjustified use of force during an arrest.

As reported by ACM on Thursday , at the centre of the trial were three allegations of assault, two for throwing teenage boys to the ground during an arrest, and another for punching one victim while he was lying supine.

In his closing statements on day two of the hearing, Crown Prosecutor Brendan Donnelly told the court there were two reasons Lindsay's conduct was unlawful.
