ORONO -- We are less than a month away from UMaine Hockey as they open their season with Holy Cross on October 10th at the Alfond.

Yes you read that right, hockey season is right around the corner and the Hockey East has just released their preseason poll.

The defending Hockey East champs have been tabbed 4th in the preseason coaches poll.

Maine did receive one first place vote but Boston University received 7 as they sit atop the poll. Followed by Providence receiving three votes, then UConn to round out the top 3. Boston College comes in under Maine, and the university of New Hampshire taking care of the basement down there at number 10.

Now some really exciting news for Maine Hockey fans.
