AUSTIN, Texas — The State of Texas is distributing millions of dollars in grants to groups across Central Texas that are working to address the opioid crisis.
On Wednesday, Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced that the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC) green-lit more than $21 million for organizations across the state, $1.8 million of which will go to the region that covers Austin to Waco.
“Today represents a significant milestone,” said Hancock, who chairs the OAFC. “For the first time, the Council has awarded grants to communities in every region of our state. We look forward to seeing how these resources will change lives, as local organizations put them to work supporting individuals and families impacted by the opioid crisis across Texas.”
