ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The City of Ellensburg is set to host a ribbon cutting ceremony for two major transit projects on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 9 a.m.

The Water Street Overlay Project, the largest in the city's history, spanned from Main Street/Manitoba Avenue to Bender Road, the city said in a release .

It involved a mill and overlay of Water Street, updating 145 ADA ramps, and upgrading five intersections with the latest video detection technology, including bicycle detection.

The new Ellensburg Central Transit bus stop, located in front of the Kittitas County Courthouse, was initiated by a request from the Kittitas County Auditor to improve access for voters. It is part of a larger sidewalk improvement project, the city said.
