WASHINGTON — Next week, North Dakotans impacted by cancer will join hundreds of others on Capitol Hill, urging U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Rep. Julie Fedorchak to protect health care tax credits that help thousands in the state afford insurance.

If Congress does not take action, those credits could expire at the end of the year.

Eniola Soetan of Dickinson, knows firsthand the difference resources can make in a cancer battle. Her mother died of brain cancer when she was 10, and her father carried what she described as “the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

"It puts a lot of toll on you as a caregiver, to have to juggle so many things, and you have all that pressure on you for, you know, all these different needs that you have to meet," Soetan said.
