DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - One week after the death of political activist Charlie Kirk hundreds of people gathered in Danville to remember his life.

“Unfortunately, the darkness seems to be so prevalent, but it’s in the darkness that light shines brighter.” one pastor said.

One of the speakers was Pastor Bryan Montgomery, and he said being here was bigger than himself.

“To recognize Charlie Kirk and the stand that he took for his faith, for the gospel but most importantly what he invested in his values and into our children,” Montgomery said.

But Kelsey Elkin was one of the only people not holding a candle because she was holding a sign in silent protest. She says even if she was standing alone, she knew she needed to take a stand.
