NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Come 2034, thousands of athletes from across the country will have their eyes on Nashville as they come to compete in the 2034 Special Olympics USA Games.
“Thousands of Special Olympics athletes from across the country are going to come to Nashville to compete in 18-plus sports,” said Justin Bradford, Director of Communications for Special Olympics Tennessee. “It’s a week-long takeover of a city. It’s broadcast on national TV. It’s a major event, expecting an economic impact of over $100 million.”
The city has almost a decade to get ready, but disability advocates say if Nashville wants to give these athletes a proper Music City experience, they need to start preparing now. That’s why they’re pushing Metro Government to audit the city’s disability accommodations
