PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Federal and local officials confirmed on Wednesday that Sunday’s upcoming memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Glendale’s State Farm Stadium has been designated a “high priority” event by the Department of Homeland Security — a rare classification given to events of national importance requiring extensive security coordination.

The designation meant the memorial would involve significant federal and local law enforcement resources. President Donald Trump had confirmed earlier in the week that he and several members of his former Cabinet would travel from Washington, D.C. , to Phoenix to attend.
