CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Four Charleston Harbor Branch Pilots received awards for rescuing a family from a sinking yacht back in March.

The recognition came after the four pilots quickly responded to a yacht that sank after striking the North Jetty in the Charleston Harbor.

On board, there were three people. A man, awoman and their 9 year old daughter. The family was from Canada and spoke very little English.

The crew of the "Fort Moultrie" was already heading out offshore to bring in another ship. They heard a distress call and immediately came to the family's aid.

Harbor Pilot Jess Kunkel pulled everyone to safety. At their dock Wednesday, Kunkel and his fellow pilots received the honors for their selfless efforts. They say it was dark and cold, so a quick response and team effort w
