COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - 62-year-old Greg Davis often rode his moped home from work along Highway 378 near Eagle Road in Sumter County. His family said they never imagined he would not make it back home one day.

“Honestly, we’ve been crying for days. It’s a feeling in your gut that you can’t explain,” said Amethyst Newman, Greg’s niece.

Newman said she is now left with unanswered questions about her uncle’s death.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, on Sept. 6, around 12 a.m., Greg rode his 2020 Honda moped on the side of the road on Highway 378 near Eagle Road when someone hit him. Troopers said the driver who hit him left the scene, and then multiple other cars struck him.

Investigators have no new leads and no clue what the make or the model of the suspect’s car is.
