LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) have crushed their first car confiscated under the city's street racing ordinance.

At LMPD’s impound lot Wednesday morning, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg pressed the button to crush a green Dodge Durango with a Hellcat engine, which police said had been stolen from Michigan.

Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey said illegal street racing and takeovers in the city will not be tolerated, and that destroying the cars of those involved is an effective way to prevent the activity.
