LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - New information will be released Thursday about the three Lorain police officers tragically targeted in an ambush shooting in July.

The Elyria Police Department is handling the investigation and are holding a 10 a.m. news conference.

Around 1 p.m. on July 23, Officers Phillip Wagner, 35, and Peter Gale, 51, were splitting a pizza on their lunch break in their separate cruisers at the dead-end on Missouri Avenue in Lorain.

The suspect, Michael Parker, 28, was also parked at the dead-end with what police said was an arsenal of weapons and was “lying in wait.”

Parker then ambushed them with a high-powered rifle, hitting both officers, said police.
