HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Here are the four stories you need to know for September 18, 2025.

McCook storm damage

A severe storm in McCook has caused several closures on Tuesday. Tennis ball-sized hail fell from the sky across Red Willow County.

The storm was not quick either as it lingered in the air space above McCook for more than three hours. During that time it had dealt out damage to cars, trees, houses, basements and day-to-day schedules.

The McCook Police Department reported that Barnett Park was also closed due to flooding.

Investigation underway

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is working to positively ID a victim killed in a crash Wednesday morning. First responders were called to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 281 by Diamond Truck Wash just north of Interstate 80.
