The Labour Party has rejected proposals to make bus travel free beofre 9.30am. Liberal Democrats MP Tom Gordon brought forward an amendment to the Bus Services (No.2) Bill.
Gordon wanted the Labour Party government to remove the 11pm to 9.30am exception to free travel for disabled people. Derby Liberal Democrats said Labour Party MPs have “failed disabled people” by making it harder for them to get fair and accessible transport.
Gordon’s amendment would have removed all time restrictions on the use of bus passes for disabled people and had wide cross-party support. Derby’s Liberal Democrats said that our Labour MPs have collectively “turned their back” on disabled people by voting against the amendment.
