MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) - The City of Morristown’s administrator, Andrew Ellard, released a lengthy statement Thursday, denying claims the city had prohibited a vigil for Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder who was shot and killed last week.
“Though a request has been made for use of certain space, the claims seen in most headlines we have seen in the last 24 hours are not accurate,” Ellard said.
According to Ellard, a request came in hoping to reserve the downtown green Friday. It’s still being reviewed by the Morristown Chamber of Commerce, the city administrator said, but the green has already been claimed for Friday.
