GASTONIA, N.C. — The city of Gastonia is requesting proposals from faith-based and nonprofit organizations to operate an emergency shelter for homeless individuals during the upcoming winter months.

The city announced Tuesday it is seeking qualified groups to run a temporary overflow emergency shelter or warming center for the 2025-2026 fall and winter seasons. The facility would serve people experiencing homelessness or housing instability during periods of extreme cold weather.

The initiative continues Gastonia's partnership approach with community organizations to provide emergency shelter and support services for vulnerable populations during harsh weather conditions.

Organizations interested in submitting proposals can access the full request for proposals on the city's website .
