A man who falsely claimed to have shot conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been arrested on charges of obstruction and child sexual exploitation, according to police.
George Zinn, 71, was attending Kirk's event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 when the Turning Point USA founder was shot and killed. As attendees fled the area, Zinn shouted that he had shot Kirk, and was swiftly taken into custody, the Utah County Sheriff's Office said in a release .
After suffering a medical issue and being taken to a hospital, authorities said Zinn confessed that he was not the shooter, but claimed he was attempting to hinder law enforcement.
