A man who is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to another person in Devonport during an attack will stand trial next year.
Harry James, aged 33 and of no fixed abode, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court this morning where he faced two charges - possession of a bladed article - namely a meat cleaver - in the area of Marlborough Street sometime between July 23 and July 26 this year and one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm between the same dates.
James pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The court heard that his defence was based on his insistence that this was a case of mistaken identity.
He was remanded into custody and will face a case management hearing on January 15, 2026 and a trial at Plymouth Crown Court on February 18, 2026.
