The sex offender accused of violently sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in her Welland home is facing a new charge.

On Wednesday, Daniel Senecal, 25, was charged in St. Catharines court with breaching his probation. He appeared via video from the Toronto South Detention Centre.

he convicted sex offender already faces five other charges in connection with the alleged sex attack on the little girl: Aggravated sexual assault on a person under 16, sexual interference on a person under 16, break and enter, choking, and assault.

The alleged Aug. 31 attack triggered outrage among the police and public as at the time of his arrest, Senecal was on probation for a similar crime.
