Filming for the Channel 4 thriller Maya has begun in Giffnock and Newton Mearns.

The six-part drama, written and created by BAFTA and International Emmy-nominated Daisy Haggard, follows the story of mother and daughter as they are forced into witness protection to escape a dangerous threat.

Images shared by East Renfrewshire Council now show that filming is underway. However, when it will hit the screen is not yet known.

East Renfrewshire Council wrote on Instagram: "There’s been lots of excitement in Giffnock and Newton Mearns over the past couple of weeks as the cameras were rolling for new Channel 4 thriller Maya.
