A man killed in a Gentilly shooting earlier this week was identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office Thursday as Gerald Holley, 20.

The shooting was first reported at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of Mexico Street, where police found Holley suffering from a gunshot wound.

Holley was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Investigators later found that the shooting occurred a few blocks away at the 6300 block of Arts Street.

A portion of Arts Street was blocked off for the investigation Tuesday, with officers leaving over 30 yellow evidence markers.

Police have released no further updates on the ongoing investigation into the killing.
