A child who told the New Orleans Police Department he was kidnapped on Thursday afternoon in Algiers escaped after allegedly being brought to an abandoned building.

The child, who police identified as a pre-teen boy, was reportedly walking in the 2300 block of Kraft Place at 4:57 p.m. when two unknown suspects allegedly put him in a van, according to NOPD. The boy told police that the suspects brought him to an abandoned building, where he later escaped and fled to his home with no injuries.

No arrests have been made, and the suspects have not been identified, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story.
