MECOSTA COUNTY, MI – Police are investigating a report that a student had a gun Thursday, Sept. 18, at Chippewa Hills High School.
The high school, 3226 Arthur Road in Remus, is in lockdown until Mecosta County sheriff’s deputies can complete their search of the school.
However, police said there is no indication that any student had a firearm on campus.
Sheriff’s deputies were called around 9:47 a.m. after one student overheard another mention a gun.
The school went into lockdown for precautionary reasons and remains lockdown as of 1:50 p.m. Thursday.
Big Rapids police and Michigan State Police are assisting deputies with the search.
