MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency will have a special ceremony in honor of POW/MIA Recognition Day at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 19, in the lobby of the Sullivan County Government Center .

The Fallen Comrade Table, present at every Sullivan County POW/MIA Recognition Day, features a specific set of items designed to remember American service people who were/are Prisoners of War or missing in A ction. Stephen Walsh is the director of the agency.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday in September. It honors those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action. It is most associated with those who were POWs during the Vietnam War. It was established in 1979 through a proclamation signed by President Jimmy Carter. The
