Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster says a man accused of kidnapping, assault, and car-jacking was arrested in Jasper very early Thursday morning.

Foster says it all began in Newton County where the victim said he was car-jacked and kidnapped and driven to Jasper while being held at gunpoint. Once in Jasper at a location on Water Street, the victim said he was beaten with a baseball bat.

The victim was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Meanwhile, Foster said his investigators along with the FBI and the U.S. Marshal’s Service worked together in investigating the case, and that led them to identifying the suspect as 42-year-old Newton resident Terry Lewis Brooks, Jr.
