HORNELL, N.Y. (WETM) -- The City of Hornell has been awarded over a million dollars to make improvements to its water system to ensure clean drinking water for its residents, as announced by New York State Governor Kathy Hochul.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, Governor Hochul announced that $176 million has been allocated to help communities across New York State take on water and sewer infrastructure and improvement projects to replace lead service lines and remove contaminants from drinking water.
Funding awarded for the projects is derived from several sources approved by the Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors (ETC), including Hochul's $100 million Lead Infrastructure Forgiveness (LIFT) program, the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds and the Water Infrast
