Gov. Maura Healey said Wednesday that she supports the commission that's considering changes to Massachusetts' flag and seal, but also suggested that she doesn't think changes will happen soon.
The Massachusetts Seal, Flag and Motto Advisory Commission unveiled the top three finalists in each category in late August after receiving more than 1,150 public design ideas. The commission is slated to hold six public hearings in September and October to continue the process.

The two Republicans vying to challenge Healey in next year's election in recent weeks have cemented their support for the existing flag and motto. The governor laughed when asked at an unrelated press conference Wednesday whether she supports changin
