KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A Kansas law enforcement officer has been charged with murder after he allegedly knelt on an inmate’s neck, suffocating him.

The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office has revealed that Richard Fatherley, a law enforcement official, has been charged with murder in the second degree in the death of Charles Adair .

The complaint filed in the Wyandotte County District Court indicated that Fatherley “unintentionally, but recklessly” killed Adair.

Law enforcement officials noted that Adair had been inside the jail for a single day after an arrest for failure to appear on multiple traffic violations - all misdemeanors.
