The once-comfortable lead in the Central Division is shrinking quickly for the Detroit Tigers.
With a 4-0 loss Wednesday night to the red-hot Cleveland Guardians, the Tigers' lead has slipped to 4 1/2 games.
The night before, it looked as if the Tigers might pull off a come-from-behind victory, but they lost 7-5 in extra innings in what was clearly a deflating defeat.
So, should fans panic?
Manager A.J. Hinch is putting a positive spin on what has become a nail-biting finish to the season.
"This is an incredible stretch of games we have in front of us to play our way into the playoffs," Hinch said, according to the Detroit News . "This is what we play the whole season for. Is it excitable? Of course, it's pressure-packed. This is playoff baseball."
