SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Last year, the Notre Dame football team finished fourth in the country after only allowing 15.5 points per game. The year before, they were seventh in the nation at 15.9.

Now through two games this season, they’re 118th in the country at 34 points per game.

So, with numbers like that, it’s obviously time for some adjustments on that side of the ball. And following the 41 points that Texas A&M put up last Saturday , Notre Dame doesn’t have a lot of time to change things with Purdue coming to town this weekend.

But back in 2021 when now-head coach Marcus Freeman was a defensive coordinator, he was in a similar spot after the Irish allowed 67 points through the first two games, and now he’s using that season as a lesson for this year’s squad.
