LANDOVER, Md. — What to do with Northwest Stadium is the question Prince George’s County leadership have been trying to answer for months, but has become all the more critical after the announcement that the Commanders would return to D.C.

The DC Council made it official Wednesday with an 11-2 vote approving plans to redevelop the RFK Stadium .

The Northwest Stadium in Landover will still host the Commanders for the next five years before the team plans to move into the RFK stadium for the 2030 season.

Prince George’s County Councilmember Shayla Adams-Stafford said while she understands some fans may be sad to see the team leave, the lack of development around the stadium has been a problem.
