DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man found guilty in the murder of a night club security guard has been sentenced to spend up to the rest of his life in prison.

Sha’King Jones was sentenced to 25 ½ years to life in the shooting death of security guard Darnell Pate.

The courtroom's viewing area was packed with Pate’s friends and family looking for justice.

Jones had a lengthy criminal history prior to this including multiple offenses while a minor, and continued offenses into adulthood.

The presiding judge said that Jones showed no sign of remorse for his actions and showed no signs of rehabilitation from previous times in a corrections facility.

Darnell Pate Sr., the father of the victim, said he is all right with how today went, but that it will not bring his son back.
