DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- As the City of Durham continues to make strides to combat violence, one man is making it his mission to focus on young people after his son was shot and killed in August.

"I'm still heartbroken," Abdul Burnette said.

Burnette's son, 18-year-old Suliman Burnette, died in a shooting in August at the SureStay Plus by Best Western Hotel on Hillsborough Road.

A 17-year-old is facing charges in connection with the shooting death.
