MEMPHIS, Tennessee — University of Mississippi officials say two people are injured after a plane crashed shortly after leaving the University-Oxford Airport.

According to university officials, a private plane crashed at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. The University of Mississippi says the two people on board were injured and airlifted to local hospitals for treatment.

The university could not give details on their current conditions.

Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including emergency personnel from Oxford, Lafayette County, and the university.

According to the university, the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
