MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The City of Mobile is celebrating the groundbreaking of a project that aims to make a street in Mobile safer for both drivers and pedestrians.
According to a release from the City of Mobile, the Complete Streets project will begin with the ceremonial groundbreaking on Friday, Sept. 19, at 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of North Jefferson and St. Louis Streets.
The nearly $17 million investment is set to rebuild 17 blocks of what used to be abandoned and neglected buildings on St. Louis Street. As the street becomes more popular for businesses in the city, the upgrades are necessary.
