HIGH POINT, N.C. -- An extra inning was a small price to pay for Charleston on Thursday night.

International tiebreaker runner Alsander Womack scored from third on a wild pitch in the top of the 10th inning and the Dirty Birds stranded the potential tying runner at third to win their season finale over High Point, 3-2, at Truist Point.

Charleston thus ended a 13-game losing streak on the final night of a season that began with the Dirty Birds defending an Atlantic Division South Division series championship.

The Rockers and Gastonia will meet for that distinction this year, with their best-of-five series set to commence on Saturday.

High Point enters the postseason on the heels of a loss, though, dealt it in the final act of the defending division champions.
