The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting ready for October, and legendary pitcher Clayton Kershaw has announced that he will retire after the season.
With Kershaw's career coming to an end, the future Hall of Famer's spot on the Dodgers' postseason roster is far from secure, though. He has a 3.53 ERA in 20 starts this season, and in the postseason, the Dodgers will likely go to a smaller rotation.
Kershaw may not get the nod over Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Emmet Sheehan or Shohei Ohtani as a starter in October. However, like other starters in the postseason, he could move to the bullpen. Manager Dave Roberts spoke on how Kershaw fits into the postseason plan.
"I still feel there is a role for him, a spot for him," Roberts said, per The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya.
