TREMONT ( 25News Now ) - Thursday was the groundbreaking on a new Animal Control Center.
It’s been a roughly three year process to get to this point. The project got the official go ahead in late April.
“It started as really just the need to make some improvements and we quickly realized that making improvements on the building we were in wasn’t going to be the most financially responsible option, and that led us to the conversation here and to this project.”
The new building will have more space, an outdoor kennel area, and more ventilation. They’ll even have a storm shelter.
The county cares for about 120 animals now, and in their new space they will be able to handle more. The new building will be 9,400 square feet, which increases the amount of space by 4,000 square feet.
