ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - LSUA is adding a new piece of history to its campus, a retired Army tank, known as ‘The Fort.’

‘The Fort’ ties in with the LSUA’s mascot, the Generals, while also honoring soldiers who have served.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase our university,” said LSUA Athletic Director Tyler Unsicker. “With us being the Generals and now having a tank on campus, it really shows the history of our area and the role it played during World War II. We’re so thankful to the City of Vivian for providing this tank for us.”

University leaders said the tank serves as a tribute to the strong role the military has historically played in Central Louisiana, especially with the university’s close ties to Fort Polk . It also gives students and visitors the chance to see a piece
