ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Flu season is here, and health experts in Cenla are saying it is more important than ever to protect yourself and those around you. Simple habits like washing hands, covering a cough and staying home when feeling sick can go a long way in keeping the flu from spreading. But, doctors say one of the most effective steps many people can take is getting a flu shot.
Doctors recommend getting the flu vaccine by the end of October. Flu season usually peaks between December and February, and the vaccine is updated each year to target the most common strains of the virus.
“As we move into fall, now is the perfect time to get your flu shot,” said Dr. Brian Slipman, Chief of Medicine,Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. “That way you are most protected as we move into pe
