Not only has Selma High School teacher Veronica Pitts won the National Civics Teacher of the Year Award, she has received congratulations from U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell inside the U.S. Capitol.

Pitts was named the National Civics Teacher of the Year by the Bill of Rights Institute last week.

U.S. Rep. Sewell (D-AL 7th District) recognized Pitts’ dedication to her students and her work to build the generation of civic leaders, activists, and change agents.
