MURRAY – For the second week in a row, the majority of Calloway County is classified by the U.S. Drought Monitor as being in a severe drought, but a small portion is also now considered to be in an extreme drought.

The U.S. Drought Monitor uses an intensity scale that ranges from D0 (abnormally dry) to D4 (exceptional drought), and it is updated every Thursday. A small southwestern area of Calloway County is now in a D3 (extreme) drought while the rest of the county remains at D2 (severe).
