Over the next seven years, nearly every bus route in Hamilton will change, with most trips improving across the network, city transit managers say.

After councillors unanimously supported a new Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) master plan on Monday, Nancy Purser, the city's acting director of transit, told CBC Hamilton that the community is in for "the biggest change in the design of the HSR network in recent memory."

The plan, called HSR Next, will begin in fall 2026. It involves implementing faster bus service, increasing the frequency of trips and improving connections with regional transit.

Purser, who presented the plan to city council's general issues committee, said that once it's fully phased in, there will be a 55 per cent increase in service hours, 450 new full-time jobs and a $5
